Mosquito - To kill or not to kill

In some households, people have pets for pleasure. But there is a pet in all households. It is none other than mosquito. Whether you build your home on 125 th floor or in hottest desert or rainiest places, the uninvited pet comes and stays with you, sleeps with you and kisses you too. Once we find the uninvited pet, we go to a shelf and takes out - mosquito coil, odomos cream, Good Knight mat, All out liquid, sticker, bat, etc. - just like army takes its weapons from weapons storage depot. All this against a small micro insect. We have been made even more afraid by the latest list of diseases - malaria, chickenguniya, etc. But all things have failed.

I was on a trekking journey and when I was about to rest i was raided by an army of mosquitoes. I tried a few techniques, but all failed. Finally nature comes to my rescue in form of a wind for a few minutes, which was the best time of my life during that trekking episode. At that time, I realized one thing, man can grow in terms of brain power and invent new new weapons but finally all are nothing in front of Mother nature. Also, Mother nature in its beauty did not even kill a mosquito and took its soft hand to move the mosquitoes and say to them - "Go away mosquito, don't bite the poor man. They are nothing in front of you."

The Five Elements

Pancha Bhoothangal or Five elements - We have heard a lot of the 5 elements, especially in textbooks and movies. We have a film which has five songs, each one based on one element. I am talking of the Tamil movie 'Rhythm'. We have the famous cartoon - Captain Planet, comprising of 5 heroes each ahving one ring of power based on one element each. When all together join, the form the masterhero- Captain Palnet. But, ask anyone. They name only four correctly- Earth, Fire, Water, Air. They always confuse the fifth element. Some say it is the Spirit. Some say it is the heart of human which completes Mother Earth. Some say it is space, which contains all the other elements. Some even say it is Metal.

If you ask me what the fifth element is, I feel everyone is more concerned about fifth element. It is because they feel it is the most superior and it should the greater than the remaining four - be it heart or metal or space. Be what the fifth element may be, I feel the most superior is not the fifth element, but Fire. Fire is the superior element because fire cannot be adulterated or turn bad. Take the case of earth or water or wind or space or metal, all will turn impure. But fire is the only element which will remain pure forever, plus it has additional quality of making other elements pure. We heat water to make it drinkable. We burn incense to purify the air. We heat the metal to its melting point to separate the pure from the rest. We burn the body to cleanse Earth of disease and to erase the memory of the person. Fire gives light for us to see things in the dark. Religion, History - all speak mighty of the fire. One of the most important inventions in history of mankind is Fire. Hindus use fire for marriage ceremony. Muslims burn incense. Christians use fire to light candles. No wonder, Rama wanted Sita to undertake Agnishudhi to prove she is still virgin. Next time when you see fire or hear of it, don't think of it as something dangerous, but see it in a new light.

Little is wonderful, Too much is ugly

While I was returning from office, I observed the moonlit sky. Wow! What a beautiful sight it was. The pure white light which was tarnished by the craters of the moon hid behind the transparent clouds making the whole scene a beautiful one. Many poets wrote poems on moon, night light and clouds at night. One of them I remember was about the light of moon falling on the earth and creating false shadows of objects. But very few of them wrote about the bright light of sun starting off our day. Too much of anything is never admired. A little light , like that of moon, is widely praised and acknowledged.

Too much of wealth starts off haughtiness, prejudice, health realted problems, whereas , a poor man's house is a heaven itself unless he is not too much drunk. In life,if we observe, small is always bigger than big. Small family happy family is the tagline of population control board. A little smile is more pleasant and soothing than a loud laugh. A small break in between work or study is really comforting. Little ones are preferred in heaven than grownups. In spite of being a small island , England ruled most of the world. The small cockroach lived longer than the huge dinosaurs. A small company has less complication and more profit percentage than big corporations. A little speck in eye is better than a log in the eye. A small pen is mightier than the sword. Small electronic goods are the talk of the town. Time to finish off this post to keep it short and sweet.

Look Up in life

Why do we say we have to come "up" in life? I was thinking on this aspect for a while. I got the answer when i was inside the church. As I was looking to the priest and praying, I could n't concentrate because of lot of people around and lot of decorations. Suddenly I looked up. The church had high ceiling, and so when I looked up, I saw the light pink color of the church only. I was able to concentrate more and felt I was taking to God in person. So when we say come up in life it means look up and come up in life. There is another viewpoint of this particular phrase. In order to achieve higher positions in life. we shouldn't looking at petty things and get perturbed by them. We must look up, not getting worried by them, but look at the situation in the long term perspective.

The religious view point of this phrase is that for any difficult situations, look up to the heavens. God is right there waiting for you to shout "Help God". Once we look up to God, we go blind to hardships and worries and start thinking good about the current situation we are in. So, in order to come up in life just LOOK UP.

Welcome to my Desk

"Every long journey starts with a small step." My long journey as a blogger hereby starts with a small welcome post. To extend the statement further-"It takes so much time to take that small step" You can observe this in your day to day life. Any new work you do, there will be lot of inertia to start it. The reason for this is man's innate behaviour to settle down in life in a short span of time. Once he is in his comfortable zone, he starts thinking whether the work he is going to do will result in the same comfortable position as he is now. The same way this blog took me so much time to get created, first it was internal blockage (should I or should I not) and second it was blogger.com which didn't help me create the blog name with simple words like "Just a thought", "Little thoughts". Whatever the reason may be, finally the end result subdues the effort. The blog is created. Through this blog I intend to tell the world of my little thoughts which surprises me and makes me think "Oh Beno, If only Socrates was alive to know about your thoughts..."
